We helped our customers bring their products fast and fresh to market
At Cericola Farms, every customer was treated like our #1 customer, whether they owned a small independent butcher shop, operated a food service outlet, or represented a large grocery chain. Not only did we aspire to deliver the freshest poultry products for our customers, but we also wanted to help them bring those products to market as quickly and as easily as possible. To that end, we offered a range of processing and packaging services.
Fresh Processing
Our federally inspected plants prepared and packaged fresh chicken for meat counters, butchers and restaurants, to all federal regulations and health and safety standards. Primary processing ran at the Schomberg plant on 4th Line and, from 2010, at Drummondville in Quebec.
Further Processing
We turned fresh chicken into retail-ready poultry products. Further processing ran at the Reagens Industrial Parkway plant in Bradford, opened in 2005 as a 110,000 square foot facility built to a modern, state-of-the-art specification.
Packaging
Our custom packaged products let customers take their products straight to market in one easy, streamlined process. Specialty poultry packaging was a core job of the Reagens plant.
Private Label
We had extensive experience as a preferred producer for retailers’ own branded product lines, packing to each retailer’s specification under its own label.
Halal Products
We offered certified hand-slaughtered halal chicken for over 27 years, certified by the Halal Monitoring Authority and later the Canadian Halal Food Certifying Agency. By 2010, weekly throughput at Drummondville had grown from 50,000 birds to more than 200,000 in a few years, growth the plant attributed to halal certification.
Raw Pet Food
We offered fresh chicken backs, necks, cages and organs for pet owners feeding a raw diet and for pet food businesses.
We welcomed any opportunity to help our customers bring their products to market more efficiently and effectively. Those services ended with the sale of our plants to Maple Leaf Foods in 2018 and 2021.
